Are you actually a minister and what are your credentials?
Indeed, I am! As my biography states, I have been an ordained minister for
over 20 years and have participated in numerous weddings. I have a Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies, and am currently completing my Master's
Degree in Christian Counseling.
What areas of Arizona do you serve?
“Have Bible Will Travel” is Jerry’s motto. We perform wedding ceremonies throughout the Greater Phoenix area, including Ahwatukee, Arrowhead Ranch, Chandler, Fountain Hills, Gilbert, Glendale, Mesa, Peoria, Scottsdale, or Tempe! We also travel to Flagstaff, Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, Tucson or wherever you desire. Outside Arizona? No problem!
Will you perform our wedding ceremony in a unique or unusual setting
that is special to us?
Absolutely! We will perform your one-of-a-kind wedding ceremony where you
desire. While there is no charge for travel within the greater Phoenix area
(and surrounding cities), fees for travel outside of the Phoenix area are
additional and vary based on location. We will travel to your home, a hotel,
a park, a church, the beach, your favorite restaurant, where you had your
first kiss, the good ol' Elk's Lodge, a reception hall, to a train, ship
or roller coaster, the banks of a babbling brook, to a mountaintop or to any
other location which may be meaningful to you. Note: I am not scuba
certified, but I can hold my breath pretty well!
Do you require premarital counseling?
Although pre-marital counseling is not required, we believe that marriage
counseling is one of the smartest investments newlyweds can make. As you
begin your new life together, it is important that a strong foundation for a
healthy and happy relationship has been laid. No matter how crazy-in-love
you are, successful marriages don't just happen.
We offer one to six sessions designed to address your individual needs.
Reverend Jerry not only has education and training in Christian counseling,
but has been happily married for many joy-filled years. Contact us for
more information.
How will we work together to make our vision a romantic reality?
Once we have received a deposit and signed contract, we will provide a
Ceremony Guideline Packet. This will contain a questionnaire that will
provide the romantic history and ceremony elements you desire. Upon
completion of the questionnaire, we will begin working together to build the
ceremony. Prior to your wedding (if time permits), a copy of the ceremony
will be provided for your review and approval.
Can we write our own vows?
You bet! It is our sincere desire that your vows capture and reflect the
extraordinary love you have for each other. Whether you craft your own
vows, or we write them together, your ceremony should express your hopes,
your dreams, and your heartfelt promises for your future together.
Can you do an "interfaith" wedding where you co-officiate with another
minister, rabbi or priest?
As respectful as you are trying to be to your honoring different traditions,
we believe that trying to "co-officiate" your ceremony will unnecessarily
create an uncomfortable situation between the two different religious
traditions. We prefer focusing on the romantic aspects of your love story
and your deep commitment to each other, rather than trying to combine two
different religious faiths. I have performed interfaith weddings in the past
in a way that pleased everyone. Our suggestion would be for you and your
fiancé to combine your religious traditions later at the reception.
May we include our children or extended family in the ceremony?
Of course, in fact, we encourage it! Wedding services that involve children
create a special bond between parents, stepparents and the children
themselves. A family-oriented ceremony should be about "uniting" and when a
ceremony recognizes children, it goes a long way towards merging a new blended
family.
Attire - Just what does Reverend Jerry wear?
He will dress appropriately for your ceremony. He will wear a suit,
ministerial robe, tuxedo, Hawaiian shirt, cowboy hat, or whatever you would
like that does not undermine the moment you have chosen to dedicate your
lives to one another.
When will you arrive for our ceremony and what if we are running a little
late?
We will arrive 15 minutes prior to your wedding and plan to leave no later
than 30 minutes after the ceremony concludes. (Of course we would like to
stay at your wedding celebration as long as possible!) Likewise, we must
insist that your ceremony start on time - we cannot be delayed in arriving
at a wedding that is scheduled after yours. If you consider changing your
date or time, please call us to check availability.
